Brief Description Resource:

Students are given the opportunity to travel along the Underground Railroad. On their journey, stories are told of the difficulties, triumphs and tragedies that runaway slaves faced as they bravely escaped to freedom.

This outstanding resource gives tools for teachers to build interdisciplinary lessons, combing literature (through the poem The Drinking Gourd), geography, social studies, and science (through lessons about the North Star).

In CPS, we combine this resource with additional resources from National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and media from SAFARI Montage.
